ATLANTA — Forecasters say the weekend's mild weather is giving way to cooler temperatures across Georgia and the threat of flooding in much of north Georgia.
The weather service says high temperatures in the 70s will replaced by afternoon temperatures topping out around 60s in many areas.
Forecasters have issued a flood watch for several counties in north Georgia, including most of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
The weather service says rainfall amounts of 2 or 3 inches will be common, and some areas could receive as much as 4 inches of rain by Wednesday morning.
The flood watch, in effect through Wednesday morning, includes Gwinnett County and several other north Georgia cities including Atlanta, Calhoun, Cartersville, Chatsworth, Cleveland, Dahlonega, Dalton, Decatur, Gainesville, Marietta and Rome.
