PREP ROUNDUP: Brown's big night helps North stay unbeaten

ALPHARETTA -- Lexi Brown put in 27 points as North Gwinnett kept its season-long winning streak alive with a 76-50 win over Alpharetta on Saturday. Brown also had eight assists and five steals for the Bulldogs (15-0). Peyton Whitted added 12 points, while Alyssa Munlyn scored 12 points and Baylee Rexing had 10 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mountain View 51, Archer 45 OT

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Bria Virgil scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Mountain View to a 51-45 overtime win against Archer Saturday. The Bears (12-5) blew a seven point lead with less than two minutes to play in regulation, but rallied for the win in the extra period. D'Andra Pringle added 11 points and Kelsey Hutchins scored 10 points.

Alesha Mann had 12 points and five rebounds for the Tigers (12-5). She put in three free throws to tie the game with 7.2 seconds to play in the fourth quarter. Kayla Rodgers added 11 points for Archer.

South Forsyth 54, Grayson 37

CUMMING -- Grayson lost to South Forsyth 54-37 Saturday. Lika Bah led the Rams in scoring with six points. Jessica Ewing pulled down 14 rebounds to go with four points.

Flowery Branch 68, Lanier 43

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Shelby Threlkeld scored 16 points in Lanier's 68-43 loss to Flowery Branch Saturday. Lauren Brown and Amber Cesair each added eight points for the Longhorns (4-13).

South Gwinnett 53, Chattahoochee 47

JOHNS CREEK -- South Gwinnett had three players score in double figures in its 53-47 win over Chattahoochee Saturday. Arielle Harvey led with 14 points, while Colette Onenda added 12 points and Jashawna Johnson scored 11 points. Taylor Harris had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Comets (10-8).

Providence 32, Commerce 27

LILBURN -- Providence held off Commerce 32-27 Saturday. Aubrey Gold scored 11 points to pace the Stars (8-6, 4-1).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Providence 46, Commerce 41

LILBURN -- Providence edged out Commerce 46-41 Saturday. Charlie Scott was the high scorer for the Stars (5-1) with 11 points.

Archer 68, Mountain View 41

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Kelvin Nwanze had a double-double as Archer beat Mountain View 68-41 Saturday. Nwanze scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Tigers (13-4). Nafis Floyd added 12 points. Floyd and Nwanze were two of 10 players to score for Archer. Mike Jenkins led the Bears with 14 points.

Alpharetta 55, North 52

ALPHARETTA -- North Gwinnett rallied from a 10 point deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but could not complete the comeback and lost to Alpharetta 55-52 Saturday. T.J. Howard led the Bulldogs (12-3) with 17 points.

Lanier 54, Flowery Branch 49

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Lanier slipped past Flowery Branch 54-49 Saturday. Simon Shafrack scored 12 points to lead the Longhorns (10-8). Andre Irvin added nine points and seven assists.

Grayson 64, South Forsyth 36

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson beat up on South Forsyth 64-36 Saturday. Damian Young led with 12 points and six rebounds, while Robert Nkemdiche added six points and 14 rebounds for the Rams (9-8).

Apalachee 73, Habersham Central 60

MOUNT AIRY -- Kamar Baldwin had double-double as Apalachee went on the road to beat Habersham Central 73-60 Saturday. Baldwin scored 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had four steals for the Wildcats (12-3). Cameron Blakley added 15 points.

Pinecrest 52, Hebron 45

DACULA -- Hebron shot 3-for-14 from the foul line in a 52-45 loss to Pinecrest on Saturday. Derek Vandiver led the Lions (5-11, 2-3) with nine points.

Wesleyan 46, Southwest Atlanta Christian 36

ATLANTA -- Will Clifton scored more than half of Wesleyan's points in the Wolves' 46-36 win Saturday over Southwest Atlanta Christian. Clifton scored 24 points, while Charles Mack added eight points for Wesleyan (8-9).
