STONE MOUNTAIN -- A man was shot during an early morning carjacking Saturday in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter in Stone Mountain.
Police are searching for two black male suspects who held up two victims during the attack, at about 2:45 a.m.
According to police, the men stopped a 20-year-old as he was making his way into the Rockbridge Road store, demanding his keys, wallet and cellphone at gunpoint.
In the meantime, another victim, a 35-year-old man was also on the way to the store. When the suspects stopped him, he did not understand the demands and proceeded toward the store, said Sgt. Randy Work with Gwinnett County Police. Then, he was shot in the back of the leg by one of the suspects.
Both victims ran into the store, Work said, and the suspects left the scene in the first victim's car, a blue 2010 Honda Fit with a Georgia tag PFE8356.
After reviewing security footage, police found that the assailants arrived in a red Honda Civic, which had been taken in a carjacking the previous night in Atlanta, Work added. The vehicle has been impounded and held for processing.
The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries,
Anyone with information on the crime or the suspects -- who are believed to be armed with a semi-automatic handgun, possibly a .40-cal. Glock -- is asked to call Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5700.
