Dr. James Robert “Jim Bob” Williamson, D.M.D., PC, age 67, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Katherine Colley Williamson; son and daughter in-law James Robert Jr. and Reilly Williamson, and their two daughters Wesley and Libby of Auburn, AL.; and son Byron Colley and Emilie Williamson, and their son Jackson, of Atlanta, GA. Jim Bob was born in Meridian, MS on November 4, 1945 to Beatrice and Wilburn Williamson. He attended Birmingham Southern College and earned his D.M.D from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1970. Before opening up his dental practices in Lilburn in 1973, he had private dental practices in Hayneville, AL and Morrow, GA. His love of dentistry led him to being a nationally known lecturer on the changing face of dentistry and attending the prestigious L.D. Pankey Dental Foundation. He was named to several prominent Dental Fellows and participated and donated his time to serve on key state and National Dental Associations Committees and Boards, including several with both the Georgia and American Dental Associations, the American Academy of General Dentistry, the Northern District Dental Society and the Gwinnett Dental Society. Well respected, admired and loved by his peers, he was selected to serve as the 1998-1999 Hinman Dental Society President and the 2002 General Chairman for the world-renowned Hinman Dental Meeting. He was active in his community, with Smoke Rise Baptist Church and utterly devoted to his wife, sons and three grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for Dr. Jim Bob Williamson will be held Saturday, January 12 at 2:00 PM at Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Interment Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, January 11 from 6 PM until 9 PM at Smoke Rise Baptist Church, 5901 Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain, GA 3008.
