LAWRENCEVILLE -- A month to the day after her death, 21-year-old Malia Ross Robinson's alleged killer was arrested.

The Gwinnett County police SWAT team executed a search warrant late Wednesday at 1431 Daniel Lane in Lawrenceville. Evidence of drug sales and the Ross Robinson homicide case were found inside the home, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Resident Omar Santana, 25, was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He remains at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

Police now believe Santana is the "unknown Hispanic male" suspect previously identified in reports detailing the final hours of Ross Robinson's life. According to authorities, Ross Robinson's death was the end result of a two-group, gang-related altercation that began Dec. 8 at the Liquid Ultra Lounge nightclub in Norcross.

The incident continued at a nearby gas station and ended at about 4:15 a.m. on Dec. 9, when shots were fired some 10 miles away outside a residence on Phil Niekro Parkway. Responding police found Ross Robinson, 21, shot and lying on the ground in front of the home.

She was taken to the hospital before passing away.

The shooting is believed to have been triggered by a disagreement between two gangs. Santana is an alleged member of the Hispanic gang La Gran Familia, according to police reports. The rival gang in question was unclear Thursday.

Ross Robinson is not believed to have been an active gang member, but likely knew her friends were, police said.

At the time of his arrest Wednesday evening, approximately 56 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and baggies were reportedly found in Santana's bedroom.
