ATLANTA — Atlanta's landmark Clermont Hotel has been sold to developers who say they plan to turn it into a boutique hotel.
The team of developers from Nashville and New York will release details of their plans in coming weeks. The sale price wasn't disclosed.
The building is also home to a downstairs lounge where tourists, locals and visiting celebrities go to dance and gawk at aging strippers.
The hotel was built in the 1920s but fell on hard times and was foreclosed upon and later ordered closed by health inspectors in late 2009. The newspapers reports Fulton County health officials noted dirty linens, old bedding and stains from bedbugs, as well as mold and unsanitary plumbing.
