SUWANEE -- During the month of May, Suwanee residents are able to find pieces of art in some unusual places.

For the eighth year, the city brings back its Art on a Limb event, where two works of art are placed in the trees, shrubs and on trails along the Suwanee Creek Greenway and other parks. When someone finds the art, they get to keep it.

"It's always fun to find a 'treasure,'" Suwanee spokeswoman Lynne DeWilde said. "I think the whole idea of being lucky enough to find something free -- and especially a lovely piece of art -- is really enticing. Also, the fact that art isn't something you would typically expect to find while you're out for a jog, stroll or play date with the kids adds an element of fun."

Each year, the program features one artists, but they need to apply. To be a part of the event, artists must apply online and submit original works by Feb. 15.

Past Art on a Limb pieces have included clay orbs, small paintings on canvas, magnets, painted gourds, metal work and pottery pieces.
