Georgia Gwinnett College assistant baseball coach Christian Castorri has accepted a scouting position with the Miami Marlins. He will be based in the metro Atlanta area.
"We are very happy for Coach Castorri and his new role with the Marlins," said Grizzlies head coach Brad Stromdahl.
"He is a great recruiter and evaluator of talent and I anticipate good things for the Marlins organization in the future."
A former draft pick of the Minnesota Twins out of high school, Castorri went on to a strong college career before playing parts of three seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
The Georgia native was Stromdahl's first hire at GGC, where he primarily worked with the pitching staff and guided recruiting efforts.
"Coach Castorri will help strengthen our ties within the Major League Baseball network as well and allow Grizzly players the opportunity to pursue their dreams at the highest level of the sport," Stromdahl added. "The players and I wish him nothing but the best and we are grateful for the time he spent in our program."
The Grizzlies' inaugural baseball season begins in February.
