The Gwinnett Heat basketball team, representing the Gwinnett County Public Schools' adapted sports program, begins its season Saturday with a road game vs. the Henry County Hurricanes. The 11 a.m. matchup is at the Locust Grove Recreation Center.
The Heat's first home games are Jan. 19 at The Monarch School with an 11 a.m. doubleheader vs. the Muscogee Lions. The team hosts Hentry County at the Monarch School Jan. 26 before finishing its regular season with two road games, Feb. 9 at Muscogee and Feb. 23 at Henry County.
The GCPS team also hosts the junior varsity basketball state tournament and the varsity state tourney semifinals on March 2 at Duluth High School. Len Boudreaux is the Heat's head coach and he is assisted by Lynnette Swanson and Dain Weigle. Mike Phillips is the GCPS coordinator for the program.
