SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Team North Georgia advanced to the Football University Youth National Championship.
Team North Georgia, which is comprised mostly of players from the Gwinnett Football League, defeated Massachusetts 25-0 in the semifinals on Friday at the Alamodome. Team North Georgia will play Colorado in today's championship game.
The team features players from North Gwinnett, South Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, Buford, Brookwood, Duluth and Grayson.SOCCER
AFU wins title
at Disney tourneyORLANDO -- The Atlanta Fire United U-17 Boys Elite soccer team won the White bracket at the Disney College Showcase held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The team beat nationally ranked teams from Eastern Pa., Dallas, Texas and Mississippi. The AFU boys defeated SA of Columbia United Premier from Maryland in the finals 4-2.
Team members are Davis Bryan, Jake Carter, Michael Craven, Josh Hoeft, Sujay Kalathoor, Costa Lopez, Davis Michols, Adam Mousa, Andrew Palmer, Jordan Payne, Connor Pendery, David Roel, Chris Schuetz, Max Smith, Sterling Wendt, Austin Wright, Chad, Yoon, and Kenzo Zaragoza. The team is coached by Bryan Waltenburg and managed by Catherine Schuetz.
