GRAYSON -- Question: What do you get when you pour boiling water over cured tea leaves?

Answer: An aromatic beverage more widely consumed than any other liquid, aside from water.

The culture surrounding the piping hot drink also is cause for celebration, if you ask Grayson's Arts and History Center Director, Barbara Hinkle.

The center is hosting its eighth annual Valentine Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Yancey House, 385 Grayson New-Hope Road. Hinkle said reservations are currently available for the event.

"It's going to be a full afternoon tea, served with scones, tea sandwiches and a little dessert," Hinkle said. "We'll also talk about tea manners and the history of tea."

The event also will feature an entertainment trio featuring guitar and piano.
