PREP ROUNDUP: Shiloh's Taqqee sinks free throw in final second for win

SNELLVILLE -- Idris Taqqee hit a free throw with 0.6 seconds left to lift Shiloh to a 53-52 Region 8-AAAAAA win over Dacula Saturday night.

Nate Mason led the Generals (10-2, 6-1) with 21 points, while Evyn Smith added 20.

Kevon Tucker had 16 points and six rebounds for Dacula (9-5,3-4). Jaylen Williams scored 15 and Brandon Goodson added 14.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Greater Atlanta Christian 62, St. Francis 29

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 12-3 on the season with a 62-29 win over St. Francis on Saturday night. Isaiah Wilkins had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Spartans. Cam Boyd and Collin Swinton had 12 and 11 respectively for GAC.

Wesleyan 54, Athens Academy 26

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan defeated Athens Academy 54-26 Saturday night. Will Clifton led the Wolves (6-8) with 29 points. Carter Hall and Charles Mack scored eight and seven respectively.

Mt. Pisgah Christian 59, Providence Christian 44

LILBURN -- Providence Christian dropped a 59-44 decision to Mt. Pisgah Christian on Saturday night. The Storm (3-9) were led by Charlie Scott's 12 points and Stephen Kleinschmidt's 11 rebounds. The Storm defeated George Walton Academy 66-49 on Friday night.

South Gwinnett 68, Parkview 29

SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett defeated Parkview 68-29 in a Region 8-AAAAAA matchup Saturday night. Kyle Wright led the Comets (7-8, 3-4) with 17 points.

Grayson 64, Central Gwinnett 43

GRAYSON -- Marquise Lanier scored 15 points to lift Grayson to a 64-43 Region 8-AAAAAA win Saturday night. C.J. Brown added 13 and Javonte Douglas netted 10 for the Rams (7-7,2-5).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkview 78, South Gwinnett 33

SNELLVILLE -- Parkview defeated South Gwinnett in a Region 8-AAAAAA contest Saturday night. Four Panthers (15-0,7-0) scored in double digits, led by Makenna Pouengue's 15. Tatiana Wayne recorded 11 points, while Marissa Mandeldove and Genesis Perrymond each had 10. South Gwinnett (8-7, 4-3) was led by Colett Onenda's 18 points.

Hoover (Ala.) 52, Wesleyan 46

HOMEWOOD, Ala. -- The Wesleyan girls dropped a 52-46 decision to Hoover (Ala.) at Samford University on Saturday night. Brittany Stevens had 13 points for the Wolves (11-3).

Salem 52, Archer 51

WALNUT GROVE -- Archer fell to Salem 52-51 in the Think Pink Challenge at Walnut Grove on Saturday night. Madison Newby led the Tigers with 17 points. Morgan Jackson had 10 points for Archer (10-4). Ayana Mitchell led Salem with 28.

Central Gwinnett 68, Grayson 38

GRAYSON -- Central Gwinnett raced past Grayson 68-38 in a Region 8-AAAAAA matchup Saturday night.

Alexandra Frazier and Carol Reynolds led the Black Knights (10-5,4-3) with 19 points each. Reynolds also had seven rebounds and three blocks while Frazier added eight assists. Teammate Lexus Travis had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Kyla Collins led the Rams (3-9,1-6) with 14 points.

Dacula 56, Shiloh 54

SNELLVILLE -- Dacula made two free throws with five seconds left to lift the Falcons to a 56-54 Region 8 AAAAAA victory Saturday night.

The final three minutes saw the lead change hands numerous times. Dacula (5-9, 3-4) had a balanced attack with five players scoring at least seven points. Jonnae Johnson had 16, Anazjah Mays recorded 10 while Katy Daniels netted eight and Star Toomey and J'nai Owens each had seven.

Buford 74, White County 28

BUFORD -- Buford easily dispatched Region 7 AAA foe White County 74-28 Saturday night. The Wolves (9-3, 5-0) were led by Kaela Davis, Bree Horrocks and Kristina Nelson, who each scored 14 points.

Providence Christian 33, Mt. Pisgah Christian 24

LILBURN -- Providence Christian's Aubrey Gold scored 10 points and had eight rebounds to lift the Storm to a 33-24 win over Mt. Pisgah Christian on Saturday night. Jessie Kowalewicz also netted 10 for Providence Christian (6-6,2-1).
