LILBURN -- The newly formed Lilburn Art Alliance will have its first event this week as it looks to generate interest in public art projects around the city.
The Alliance will have complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine and music at 1 p.m. Saturday at 107 Main St. Sprig restaurant and Music on Main Street will provide the refreshments and entertainment, and local artists will perform, including Susan Boudreaux, Diana Dice, Teri Enfield, Alan Harp, Gwendolyn McDonald, David Raderstorf and Peggy Sullens.
The mission of the alliance is to create works of public art, support local artists and create space in Old Town.
"I hope that the Lilburn Art Alliance will be a catalyst to harness the artistic energy in this city," Mayor Johnny Crist said. "We have a lot of talented artists here in Lilburn, and a cultured community that appreciates the fine arts. The Art Alliance will help bring them together."
The first public meeting of the Lilburn Art Alliance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 23. For more information, email Sonny Franks at signcreations@comcast.net.
