PREP ROUNDUP: South girls edge Central in overtime 60-57

LAWRENCEVILLE -- South Gwinnett picked up a big Region 8-AAAAAA win on Friday night by outlasting Central Gwinnett 60-57 in overtime.

South (8-6, 4-2) tied the score with 10 seconds left in regulation off a 3-pointer by Colette Onenda, who led the Comets with 17 points. Arielle Harvey added 16 points, 19 rebounds and eight blocks, while Kierra Clayton chipped in with 11 points. Jashawna Johnson also added 12 points and a big steal on defense late in overtime to help preserve the win.Central had four players score in double figures, led by 14 points from Alex Frazier. Lexus Travis added 11 points, while Carol Rogers and Brianna McGee each scored 10.


Mountain View 51, Peachtree Ridge 48

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View led by as many as 12 points against Peachtree Ridge on Friday night, only to see the Lions get back to within two points late in the fourth, before the Bears held on for a 51-48 win over the Lions.

Three Mountain View players scored in double digits, led by 14 points from Bria Virgil. Iceis Walker added 11 points, while D'Andra Pringle finished with 10. Mountain View improved to 11-3 overall and 4-3 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Peachtree Ridge was led by a game-high 23 points from Melissa Turvy, who hit six 3-pointers along the way.

North 73, Collins Hill 22

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett stayed unbeaten at 12-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA with a 73-22 win over Collins Hill on Friday night.

Lexie Brown led North with 22 points, eight assists and seven steals. Peyton Whitted and Baylee Rexing each added 14 points, while Joshlyn Belcher scored 12.

Parkview 72, Shiloh 22

LILBURN -- Parkview had no trouble with Shiloh on Friday night as the Panthers rolled to a 72-22 win in Region 8-AAAAAA action.

Autumn Sizemore scored 12 to lead Parkview (14-0, 7-0), while Kiersten Hunter added 11. The Panthers also received 10 points each from Genesis Perrymond and Marissa Mandeldove.

Archer 55, Dacula 46

DACULA -- Archer trailed Dacula 19-6 early in the second quarter but fought its way back to post a 55-46 win over the Falcons in a Region 8-AAAAAA game on Friday night.

Madison Newby led the comeback for Archer (10-3, 5-2) with 28 points, four steals and three assists. Kayla Rogers helped by logging seven points and three steals, while Morgan Jackson added six points and 12 rebounds.

Faustine Aifuwa led Dacula (4-8, 2-4) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Other standouts for Dacula were Anazjah Mayes with 12 points, Star Toomey with six points and eight rebounds, Katy Daniels with seven points and seven steals and Jonnae Johnson with six points.

Brookwood 65, Grayson 35

LOGANVILLE -- Rebecca Walker and Courtney Gardner of Brookwood scored 19 points each on Friday night in leading the Broncos 65-35 over Grayson in a Region 8-AAAAAA contest.

Nija Kurien also added 11 points for Brookwood, who improved to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the region.

Grayson (3-8, 1-5) was led by eight points from Tiara James, while Michelle Akolade added five points and nine rebounds.

Buford 63, Fannin Co. 20

BLUE RIDGE Buford received points from nine different players as the Wolves pounded Fannin County 63-20 on Friday night in a Region 7-AAA game.

Kaela Davis was the top scorer for Buford (8-3, 4-0) with 21 points.

Hebron 45, Athens Academy 21

DACULA -- Hebron improved to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in Region 8-A with a 45-21 win over Athens Academy on Friday night.

Amber Skidgel accounted for over half of Hebron's offense with 23 points, while Hannah Lentz finished with 11 points.


Brookwood 47, Grayson 46

LOGANVILLE --Brookwood's Deion Dedeaux scored with nine seconds left to play on Friday night to lift the Broncos 47-46 over Grayson in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Kendall Joseph led Brookwood (13-2, 5-2) with 14 points.

South 82, Central 75 OT

LAWRENCEVILLE -- South Gwinnett had four players hit for double digits in points on Friday night as the Comets outlasted Central Gwinnett 82-75 in overtime for a Region 8-AAAAAA win.

Logan Adams led South (2-4 in the region) with 20 points, while KV Walker scored 19. Cam Moye chipped in with 17 points, while Brandon Williams added 10 points.

Central (7-8, 1-5) was led by a game-high 24 points from Shaun Jones. Brian Egejuru had a big night with 22 points, while Sam Westmoreland logged 13 points.

Shiloh 64, Parkview 38

LILBURN -- Evyn Smith scored 14 points and Trey Moore added 13 more to guide Shiloh to a 64-38 win over Parkview on Friday night in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Idris Taqqee added 11 points and nine rebounds as Shiloh improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the region.

Peachtree Ridge 66, Mountain View 44

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Jordan Capps led all players with 19 points on Friday night to lead Peachtree Ridge past Mountain View 66-44 in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Mountain View (2-12, 0-7) received nine points each from Michael Jenkins, Will Hartter and Xavier Morgan.

Meadowcreek 58, Habersham 56

NORCROSS -- Ezetris Reed of Meadowcreek scored with six seconds left to give the Mustangs a 58-56 win over Habersham Central on Friday night in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Meadowcreek (6-9, 3-4) came into the contest with only eight players on its roster due to the suspension of five players, four of which were starters.

Jonathan Jones led the Mustangs with 19 points, while Don Smith and Josh Moore each scored 10.

Salem 72, Apalachee 67

CONYERS -- Apalachee led until the final minute on Friday night as Salem slipped past the Wildcats 72-67 in a battle between Region 8-AAAAA frontrunners.

Cameron Blakley led Apalachee (8-4, 5-2) with 23 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks. Kamar Baldwin followed with 14 points, while Rakim Peters chipped in with 10 points.

Athens Academy 57, Hebron 47
