Central Gwinnett linebacker Trey Johnson made his college commitment on Friday during halftime of the Under Armour All-American game in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Johnson, who is rated the No. 2 inside linebacker in the country, committed to Ohio State.

"Next year I'll be attending The Ohio State," said Johnson as his parents Wilbur and Shellie Johnson stood behind him.

Johnson chose the Buckeyes over Penn State, Florida and Tennessee.

"It just felt perfect for me when I went on my visit," Johnson said. "I just loved it up there — the atmosphere, the coaching staff, everything. It just felt like a perfect fit."

Johnson committed to Auburn in August 2011 just before his junior season and after the Tigers won the BCS national championship. But after head coach Gene Chizik left the program following a 3-9 season, Johnson re-opened his recruitment.

Johnson was a three-year starter at Central and one of the most prolific tacklers in county history. He made 456 career stops, including 140 this season. Johnson helped Central to a 6-4 record this season, its first winning season since 2006.
