A Buford man was killed Thursday after his vehicle struck the back of a truck on a Cobb County exit ramp.
Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce said 42-year-old Buford resident Sylvester Johnson was killed in the crash that took place at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday on the exit ramp from westbound Interstate 285 to South Cobb Drive. According to police, a crane truck was stopped at a red light when Johnson's 2012 Chevrolet Cruze struck its rear and began rolling back down the ramp toward I-285.
"Just prior to entering the interstate, the Chevrolet finally came to a stop after rolling down the embankment between the interstate and the ramp," Pierce said.
Johnson was transported via ambulance to Emory Adventist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Three juvenile passengers also in the car were not injured in the crash, nor was the driver of the truck, Pierce said.
Investigators do not expect to file charges but ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 770-499-3987.
