ATLANTA -- Leonor Rodriguez scored 23 points and the No. 21 Florida State closed the game with a 13-4 run, holding off the pesky Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for an 85-78 victory Thursday.
Florida State (12-1, 2-0 ACC) rallied from a nine-point second half deficit, then trailed 74-72 before taking the lead for keeps on Chelsea Davis' layup with 2:26 left. Florida State won its fifth in a row despite going 0-for-7 from 3-point range.
The Yellow Jackets (7-6, 0-2) led 57-48 on Dawnn Maye's 3-pointer with 15:16 remaining. The Seminoles rallied, scoring 16 of the next 22 points to take a 64-63 lead on Natasha Howard's free throw with 8:57 to go.
Howard and Morgan Toles each added 18 points for Florida State.
Danielle Hamilton-Carter led Georgia Tech with 13 points. The Yellow Jackets led 45-38 at halftime but couldn't hold on as their four-game winning streak ended.
