Looper — Blu-ray (R)
Movie: 4 out of 4 stars
Disc: 3 out of 4 stars
My favorite movie of all-time and arguably the most original concept ever for a time-travel film, "Looper" is also one of only a handful of movies that establishes its own set of sci-fi rules at the onset and never once strays from them. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis play younger and older versions of Joe, an assassin hired by the mob based in the future. When an operative outlives his usefulness, they are sent back in time and gunned down the second they arrive. A sub-plot involving a late-arriving Emily Blunt as a mother doggedly protecting her mysterious young son is woven in and it all concludes with one of the most moving final scenes in movie history.Technical specs: aspect ratio: Widescreen (2.35:1/1080p), audio: English (DTS HD 5.1 MA), subtitles: English and Spanish.
