Gwinnett Daily Post
It was a great first semester in the classroom for Georgia Gwinnett College's inaugural group of student-athletes as 57 players -- more than half of the college's student-athlete population -- earned Director of Athletics' Honor Roll marks with a 3.0 or better semester GPA in the fall.
Additionally, 23 posted a 3.5 or above, with five earning a 4.0 GPA.
The men's tennis team led the way with a 3.44 team average.
The women's tennis team also collected a 3.0 team average as the Grizzlies represented themselves in the classroom for the first time.
GGC's four other squads each put double-digit players on the Honor Roll, with women's soccer boasting 16. Men's soccer placed 13 while softball and baseball each had 10.
"Overall, it was a terrific start for our student-athletes in the fall semester," said Darin Wilson, GGC's director of athletics. "Congratulations to our teams and coaches for such a good term and, as always, we will continually strive to improve."
The high marks added to a successful first season on the fields as the GGC men's and women's soccer teams combined for a 24-9-3 record. Baseball, softball and tennis will begin play in February.
