ALBANY — Police in Albany say a woman is charged with failure to maintain lane, texting while driving and driving without a license in an accident that left a 44-year-old police officer hospitalized.
Officer Garnet Lincey was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder being driven by 22-year-old Lauren Owens around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say Owens ran into a parked car after she hit the police cruiser.
Police say Owens was checking her phone for a text message at the time of the accident, and Lincey has been released from the hospital.

My first thought was "no driver's license for 5 years" but as I got farther into the story I could see that would be a useless sentence.
