Location: Ducor is located in the middle of the Village Shopping Center, in Lawrenceville between Dawns of Essence Salon and D&D Fashion for Less.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, closed Sundays and Mondays.

Atmosphere: Ducor is a banquet hall as well as a restaurant, so the interior is spacious.

When guests enter the front, they should walk to the right side of the building for dining service. The left side has tables set up for events -- and to show potential clients the decor.

The dining room is full service, which means someone will come to the table and collect your order, then bring the food to you.

For now, the restaurant portion of the building is closed on Saturday night since there are usually private events being held in the space.

Ducor caters for all of its events.

Menu: Ducor serves West African cuisine, specifically from Liberia.

The menu is limited with different plates served on each day of the week.

"We have certain dishes on certain days," James Davis said. "We have a fried fish with a dry rice daily. You can translate it to dirty rice -- it's not dry."

It also offers soup, vegetables, wings, fries, plantains and fufu every day. For those of you who aren't familiar with fufu, it's thick dough-like ball made from yuca root. It can be eaten by itself or with soup.

But if you're looking for some greens made with bacon -- or any part of the pig -- you won't find that here.

"We don't cook pork here," Harriet Swaray said. "There's no health reason behind it. We just don't cook it here."

Ducor plans to expand its menu as business picks up.

Things you might not know: In Liberia, chicken is a delicacy according to Swaray and Davis.
