SUWANEE -- Most high schoolers are usually worried about how they look, getting their first car and making tons of friends. Seven freshmen from North Gwinnett High School are working on something more important: hosting Cultures of Suwanee on Saturday at Town Center Park.
According to the event's website, the goal is to "bring together the different cultures, to unite for one cause and that is to help understand the connection of cultures."
Charlie Dickson, Chris Varela, Josh Lorenz, Trey Sheppard, Kyle Wilcox, Brandon Wade and Alex Browning are part of the Studio Program at North Gwinnett, which is a project-based learning class, to help the boys learn in a new way.
Their group project is this event gathering different businesses, restaurants, entertainers and more together to display the different cultures that live in one area.
There will be several booths representing different cultures at the event. Some of the businesses to participate in the day include Marco's Pizza, Cheeky's and Taste of Jamaica. Also there will be an area for kids at the back and there will be music all day long.
The funds raised from the silent auction and raffle benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Prizes range from passes for Adrenaline Climbing to admission to Stone Mountain Park to a bag of Trader Joe's groceries.
