SUWANEE -- A cultural project planned by students in the North Gwinnett cluster is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Suwanee Town Center Park.
According to Trey Sheppard, 14, one of the event's organizers, people "can expect cultural performances such as dance, singing, music and the arts."
Fellow organizers Kyle Wilcox and Josh Lorenz, both 15, have spent the last several weeks planning.
Wilcox said there will be bounce houses for children, food and art vendors and more.
All proceeds from the event will go to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, a non-profit organization.
Other students involved in organizing the event include Charlie Dickson, Chris Varela, Alex Browning and Brandon Wade.
North Gwinnett High School teacher Nic Carroll said letting young people organize the Cultures of Suwanee gathering gave them an opportunity to "develop some real world skills. They got to learn what it takes to reach out to all the sponsors, to work with the city and the city council."
In addition, said fellow teacher Kyle Jones, the young people learned management skills.

The event is called Cultures of Suwanee. The event is completely student organized. The seven young men who put this together have done a tremendous job. I knoow we all hope the community comes out in support and to have a good time!
