LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Outfield candidate Jordan Parraz, who spent an injury-plagued 2012 season with Gwinnett, homered in a five-run fifth inning as the Atlanta Braves defeated Washington 9-5 on Tuesday.
Juan Francisco, Ramiro Pena and Evan Gattis each had two hits for the Braves, who have won two straight after losing their first three Grapefruit League games. Justin and B.J. Upton delivered RBI hits.
Braves starter Mike Minor allowed two first-inning runs on three hits, two walks and a while pitch, but bounced back to retire the Nationals in order in the second.
He struck out four in his 25-pitch outing.
The start of the game at Champion Stadium was delayed more than an hour because of rain.
The Braves play Detroit today in Lakeland, with Tim Hudson making his second start of the spring.
