PREP ROUNDUP: Patterson K's six in South's win over Buford

SNELLVILLE — Ryan Patterson struck out six to lead South Gwinnett to a 9-7 win over Buford on Monday.

Patterson pitched four innings, allowing one hit and no runs. Brandon Matics got the win by going one inning and allowing one run and striking out one.

Chad Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Mason Hart was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Comets (2-1).


Dacula 10, South Forsyth 2

CUMMING — Nick Mollica and Chance Keefer each had three hits to help Dacula to a 10-2 win over South Forsyth on Monday.

Nick Heamon, Tyler Crumley and Austin Colins each went 2-for-5. Heamon had two RBIs and Crumley and Collins had one each. Keefer also had two RBIs.

Michael Stamphel (1-0) got the win, going four innings and allowing one earned urn, two hits and striking out two. Gage Murray got the save after pitching three innings with no runs, three hits and three strikeouts.

Mountain View 8, Apalachee 5

WINDER — Beau Blair had three hits, including a triple, to lead Mountain View to an 8-5 win over Apalachee on Monday.

Forrest Girardeau had two hits and Bun Utley had one hit and scored two runs.

Garrett Strope got the win on the mound, going 2 1/3 innings and allowing no hits, no runs and striking out four for the Bears (3-0).

McEachern 6, Mill Creek 2

POWDER SPRINGS — Kyle Abernathy hit a solo home run in Mill Creek's season opening 6-2 loss to McEachern on Monday.

Bryan Hudson had two hits and an RBI, while Jesse Thomas got the loss on the mound.


Mill Creek 13, Parkview 5

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek had 11 different players score in its 13-5 win over Parkview on Monday.

Nick Kozlowski led the way with one goal and three assists, while Sam Kibildis had two goals and one assist for the Hawks (2-1, 2-0).

Zach Pagan scored three goals for Parkview (0-1).


Walton 11, Mill Creek 10

MARIETTA — Maddie Beck scored four goals and had two assists in Mill Creek's 11-10 loss to Walton on Monday.

MacKenzie Fagioli had three goals and Rachel Gann, Emily Hallbers and Tori Windom each scored one goal. Jullian Wissel had 11 saves for the Hawks (1-1).

North Springs 7, GAC 6

NORCROSS — Elizabeth Calhoun scored three goals, but it wasn't enough in Greater Atlanta Christian's 7-6 loss to North Springs on Monday.

Catie Woods, Laura Fazerkas and Abby Gipson each had won goal for the Spartans, who lost their season and area opener.


Brookwood 5, Archer 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Brookwood swept Archer 5-0 on Monday. Drew Wendel, Matt Jones and David Brown won at singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Zach Jennings and Daniel Drake and the No. 2 doubles team of Matt Bullock and Anthony Poccelli were also victorious for the Broncos (5-0, 2-0).

Peachtree Ridge 3, Chattahoochee 2

JOHNS CREEK — Alex Makarenko and Kevin Lim won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, in Peachtree Ridge's 3-2 win over Chattahoochee on Monday.

Alex Peed and Taylor Foote won at No. 1 doubles for the Lions (2-1).

Lanier 4, Dacula 1

DACULA — Lanier picked up wins from its singles players Cullen Moss, Kevin Wagner and Kyle Galloway to beat Dacula 4-1 on Monday. The No. 2 doubles team of Hojun Lee and Armin Zmajevac also won for the Longhorns (2-1).

Buford 3, Oconee County 2

WATKINSVILLE — Buford remained unbeaten on Monday with a 3-2 win over Oconee County. Colby West and Skyler Wilson won at singles play, while David Petroni and Avery Turner won at No. 2 doubles as the Wolves improved to 6-0.

Collins Hill 5, GAC 0

NORCROSS — Collins Hill swept Greater Atlanta Christian 5-0 on Monday.

Ian Melnik, Evan Padvorac and Aalok Patel won at singles play. Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney won at No. 1 singles and Peyton Rushing and Josh Jackson won at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (4-1).

Wesleyan 4, Pinecrest 1

NORCROSS — Austin Zakas and Cole Brown won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, to help Wesleyan to a 4-1 win over Pinecrest on Monday.

Tucker Cannon and Andrew Dorman won at No. 1 doubles and Michael Armstrong and Palmer Brasher won at No. 2 doubles for the Wolves (1-2).

WATKINSVILLE — Buford's doubles teams came through with victories to lead the Wolves over Oconee County 3-2 on Monday.

The No. 1 doubles team of Savannah Wahley and Abbey Mitchell and the No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Thompson and Rebecca Hendrix got victories. Petywon Wolfe also won at No. 2 singles for the Wolves (5-1).

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian swept Collins Hill 5-0 in its season opener on Monday.

The Spartans got wins from singles players Remi Andre, Rachel Chupp and Julia Bryan. The No. 1 doubles team of Phoenix Gandy and Jenny Armstrong won along with the No. 2 doubles of Miciah Kimble-Glover and Stephanie Collins.
