Amy Clement

SUGAR HILL -- A talented music teacher at North Gwinnett Middle School was recently honored by the Georgia Music Educators Association as a recipient of the organization's volunteer of the year award.

A longtime member of the group of music professionals, Amy Clement has served GMEA in several leadership roles, earning her the recognition for excelling as a professional in the field of music education.

Clement has taught orchestra in Gwinnett County since 1997. Currently in her fourth year as one of the orchestra directors at North Gwinnett Middle, she also serves as co-sponsor of the school's Tri-M honors society. The international honors society recognizes students for academic achievement and musical talent.

Clement currently serves as treasurer for the Georgia chapter of the American String Teachers Association. She also has led GMEA as the District 13 orchestra chair. She has co-presented at the GMEA conference, had a student group perform at the conference and has served as honors clinician and large group performance evaluation adjudicator in several counties throughout Georgia.

She is also a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.

She started studying the violin at the age of five. A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, she earned a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in string education.
