James E. Langston, age 86, died on February 23, 2013. Born to the late Clyde and Coralene Combs Langston in Silver Creek, MS, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Agnes Ray. Mr., Langston served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he was a mechanic on fighter planes, specifically as a Crew Captain for the F6F Hell Cats. He was so proud to be a member of the Greatest Generation. Mr. Langston enjoyed gardening, telling stories, and listening to music. He was an avid Ole Miss Rebel and considered himself to be a Ford Man. Mr. Langston was faithful in attending his familys sports activities, but will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, provider and protector. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Mrs. Betty J. Langston, of Winder, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Langston, of Suwanee, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Robert Bethune, of Lawrenceville, GA, Lynda and Rodney Hall, of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer Goff and husband Jim, of Williamsburg, OH, Jay Langston, of Chicago, IL, J.R. Barden and wife Marcy, of Dacula, GA, Brandi Wilson and husband Josh, of Braselton, GA, Lisa Williams and husband Jeff, of Atlanta, GA, Tyler Bethune, of Lawrenceville, GA, Glen and Nikki Perkins, of Winder, GA, and Katie and Macayla Hall, of Loganville, GA; great-grandchildren, Meredith, Samuel, Wyatt, Grant, Cuorra, Austin, Autumn, Ella and Jonathon; sister, Carolyn Williams, of Baker, LA; cousins, Gerald Langston and Margie Langston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind not only a loving family, but many friends who will dearly miss him. A memorial service for Mr. Langston will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:00pm at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, with Dr. Dave Davis and Pastor Jason Mincey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
