AUBURN -- A woman survived a collision with a train on Thursday afternoon, but authorities didn't immediately know why she was near the tracks.
Sgt. Diana Campbell of the Auburn Police Department said officers responded to the area of Ga. Highway 8 in the area of Highway 324 after the unidentified woman was reportedly hit. The woman was conscious and talked with rail workers, stabilized by Barrow County Fire personnel and airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
The incident remains under investigation, Campbell said.
"It is not known at this time why the female was in the area of the train tracks," Campbell said.
