James Joseph Miller, 97, of Buford passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Peachtree Christian Hospice. James was born on May 21, 1915 in Hulmeville, PA to Alexander and Elizabeth Miller. He worked as a brick layer for the Detroit Board of Education for many years. James proudly served his country in the United States Army in Okinawa during World War II. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church for many years. Survivors include his son James A. Miller and wife Georgianna, grandchildren James A. Miller, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Hoschton, GA, Marcia Miller McCarthy and husband Mike of Flowery Branch, Charles Miller and wife Sherry of Olathe, KS, Michael Miller of Kansas City, MO and Jeffery Miller and wife Jennifer of Shawnee, KS, great grandchildren Russell and Vanessa Miller of Olathe, Bristol and Augusta Miller of Shawnee, Alexander and Benjamin Miller of Flowery Branch and Melissa Miller Merryman of Hoschton, great great grandchildren Makenzie McDiermon and Brooke Merryman of Hoschton and several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
