Bomb threat made during bank robbery

DULUTH -- Gwinnett County Police are looking for a white man in his late 40s who allegedly walked into a Duluth bank Monday and demanded money with a threatening note.

According to Cpl. Jake Smith, police responded to a report of a robbery at about 1:15 p.m. Monday at the Chase Bank at 3780 Old Norcross Road in unincorporated Duluth.

"The suspect gave a note to a teller indicating that he had a bomb and wanted money," Smith said. "The teller provided a small amount of cash to the suspect, who fled the bank on foot."

Smith said no vehicle was seen.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man, who is described as being his late 40s or early 50s, of average height and build. During the robbery, the suspect wore blue jeans, a tan jacket, a black knit cap and sunglasses.
