Grayson approves audit of Comcast

GRAYSON -- The Grayson City Council took its first step in reviewing the money it receives from telecommunications companies by approving an audit of Comcast on Monday night.

"We're going to do one audit (of companies) at a time to see what money we need to be receiving," Mayor Jim Hinkle said during the regular council meeting.

This audit will be conducted through the Georgia Municipal Association, according to Hinkle.

In other action, the Council:

-- Agreed to authorize Hinkle to sign the Title Tax Inter-Governmental Agreement with Gwinnett County in preparation for the county commission's March 4 meeting.

-- Decided to purchase 23 new decorations for next Christmas, including nine 4-foot candy canes for Ga. Highway 20 ($2,061), five six-foot candy canes for Rosebud Road ($1,495) and nine wreaths.

-- Passed a procurement procedure draft ordinance with a stipulation that all verbal quotes need to be recorded.

-- Heard a report that director candidates are being interviewed for the Downtown Development Authority.

-- Heard a report that four bids have been received so far on the Gateway landscaping project for highway medians.
