DULUTH -- Farnese Roberts has been named executive director of Plantation South Duluth, a senior living residential community.

Plantation South Duluth is managed by Senior Management Advisors, which manages 11 communities in Florida and Georgia.

"We are pleased to welcome Farnese to the SMA family. She has an extensive background in managing senior communities at the executive level, which makes her a valuable asset to our organization," said Steven Piazza, CEO of Senior Management Advisors.

"Her understanding of the needs of seniors and their families, along with her experience in health care and executive leadership, will certainly allow us to continue to serve our residents with the highest quality care."

Prior to joining SMA, Roberts was an executive director at Hearthstone Senior Services in Irving, Texas and Marietta. With Hearthstone, she developed an initiative to decrease hospitalizations for residents by conducting quarterly wellness review meetings with the residents, wellness team, physicians, health care vendors and families.

Before Hearthstone, Roberts was director of assisted living for Town Village Senior Living in Dallas, Texas. She developed a Resident Services Program, which included religious activities, arts and culture, wellness, social networking, personal care services and continuing education programs.

Roberts is a graduate of Cleveland College in Cleveland, Tenn., receiving a degree in Business Administration. She also has a licensed practical nurse certification from Dalton College in Dalton, and is a state certified assisted living administrator.

Hendrick Automotive Group opens Mazda dealership

BUFORD -- Hendrick Automotive Group has opened a Mazda Dealership in Buford. Formerly Ivory Mazda, the new Mall of Georgia Mazda, located at 3546 Ga. Highway 20, is now under Hendrick Automotive Group management.

"We always look for new opportunities to offer our customers, and partnering with Mazda does exactly that," said Tom Blocker, executive vice president of Hendrick Automotive Group. "Mazda continues to develop a strong line of vehicles, and the brand's new and innovative approach to reaching customers, from the showroom design to marketing efforts, is fresh and exciting."

Market area vice president Ryan Regnier, who has been with Hendrick Automotive Group since 1996, will oversee the store. He is also the executive general manager of Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Duluth and Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford.

"We are thrilled to expand our presence in the Buford market with the addition of Mall of Georgia Mazda," said Regnier.

Dan Dehass will serve as general manager of Mall of Georgia Mazda. Dehass joined the company in 2003 as inventory manager at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington, N.C.

Mall of Georgia Mazda will feature 500 new and pre-owned cars on site, plus access to the entire hendrickcars.com inventory of more than 5,000 pre-owned vehicles. The 16,550-square-foot dealership has 12 service bays on its six-acre lot.

The business is open Monday through Saturday and will employ more than 40 people

Firm announces election of managing partner

DULUTH -- Andersen, Tate & Carr recently announced that Donald L. Swift III has been elected by the shareholders to serve as managing partner of the firm.

Swift succeeds Tom Tate, who completed his second term as managing partner.

Swift is a shareholder in the litigation department. In addition to his new managerial responsibilities, he will continue to practice in the area of complex civil litigation and dispute resolution.
