SUWANEE -- Parkview's girls soccer team got its first win of the season in exciting fashion on Friday.
Parkview needed penalty kicks to beat North Gwinnett 5-4 Friday in the Chrysler Mall of Georgia North Gwinnett Invitational. The Panthers (1-1) won the shootout 5-3.
Emma Carlson scored two goals and Madison Ober and Katie Hickman had one each in regulation.
The Bulldogs (0-1) had two goals from Jordan Goldring. Caroline Gualdoni and Katie Strand each scored once.
GAC 7, Savannah Country Day 0
SAVANNAH -- Greater Atlanta Christian opened its season with a 7-0 drubbing of Savannah Country Day on Friday. Taylor Wagnon led the Spartans (1-0) with two goals and two assists. Rachel Garcia added two more goals and an assist, while Abbie Abrahart also scored twice. Kayla Puzas scored once and dished out an assist. Other GAC players with an assist were Mollie Arrendale, Kaylann Boyd and Kaitlin Mayer. Goalie Melissa Gray earned the shutout.
Buford 4, Flowery Branch 0
BUFORD -- Ceely Coker and Brie Smith each scored twice as Buford blanked Flowery Branch 4-0 Friday. Smith and Jessi Vaverka each had an assist for the Wolves (2-0). Izzy Ortiz made two saves to get the shutout.
Mill Creek 4, Etowah 0
HOSCHTON -- Lauren Tanner scored two goals and picked up an assist as Mill Creek knocked off Etowah 2-0 on Friday. Kristen Gomez and Melissa Hanken each scored a goal for the Hawks (2-0). Rachel Allred made five saves in the shutout.
Collins Hill 2, Lowndes Co. 0
SUWANEE -- Halla Jibreen and the Collins Hill defense shutout Lowndes County 2-0 Friday. Jibreen made three saves for the Eagles (2-0). Jessica Dacey and Dena Cisic each scored a goal. Paige Hoover and Kelsey Lawrence each added an assist.
Brookwood 3, Woodward 0
SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood started its season on a high note Friday with a 3-0 victory over Woodward Academy.
North Gwinnett 2, Parkview 1
SUWANEE -- Sophomore Connor Rosenthal scored a goal in Parkview's 2-1 loss to North Gwinnett on Friday.
Collins Hill 3, Lowndes Co. 1
SUWANEE -- Paul Ille scored a hat trick as Collins Hill beat Lowndes County 3-1 Friday. Juan Ruiz had two assists for the Eagles (2-0).
GAC 4, Savannah Country Day 0
SAVANNAH -- Hudson Kuipers scored twice as Greater Atlanta Christian beat Savannah Country Day 4-0 in the opener Friday. Davis Bryan scored once and Max Gomas put one in on a penalty kick. Justin Phan made three saves to get the shutout for the Spartans (1-0).
Blessed Trinity 1, Wesleyan 0
NORCROSS -- Wesleyan gave up the game's only goal with 45 seconds left in regulation to fall to Blessed Trinity 1-0 Friday. Goalie Austin Pack made 10 saves for the Wolves (0-2).
Holy Innocents' 7, Providence 1
LILBURN -- Providence dropped its second straight to start the season with a 7-1 loss to Holy Innocents' Friday. Bokwon Lee scored the goal with an assist from Jake Freeman.
East Coweta 5, Mountain View 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View lost its opener to East Coweta 5-1 Friday. The Bears' (0-1) only goal was a nice one though. Jonathan Sayers scored on a bicycle kick with an assist from Diego Sanchez.
Buford 3, Flowery Branch 1
BUFORD -- Matt Bonadies scored twice as Buford beat Flowery Branch 2-0 Friday. Eli Cummings scored the other goal for the Wolves (2-0).
Hebron 3, LaGrange 0
LaGRANGE -- Cole Redman put in a pair of goals as Hebron beat LaGrange 3-0 Friday in the LaGrange Invitational. Braden Elmer added a goal and an assist for the Lions (1-0). Noah Blalock and Joey Redman combined on the shutout.
Peachtree Ridge 2, Chattahoochee 1
JOHNS CREEK -- Peachtree Ridge held off Chattahoochee 2-1 Friday to stay unbeaten. Jordan Davis scored both goals for the Lions (2-0).Woodward 3, Brookwood 1SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood dropped its season opener to Woodward Academy 3-1 Friday. Samir Williams scored the Broncos' (0-1) goal with the assist coming from his brother Samaan.
