Fire, smoke envelop vacant Snellville house

SNELLVILLE -- Gwinnett Firefighters responded to a vacant house fire in the 4600 block of Bridle Point Parkway in Snellville on Friday afternoon.

The blaze was under control within 10 minutes of the firefighters' arrival, at 4:24 p.m. Gwinnett Fire Lt. Colin Rhoden said neighbors told them the house had been vacant, and firefighters entered through the back door.

"The second floor was burned through and was falling through to the first floor," Rhoden said. "The entire house was filled with smoke from the fire."

Rhoden said firefighters had to be careful because the floor collapsed, but they checked the home twice.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Rhoden said.
