>DULUTH -- Arbor Day is a holiday when people and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees in their respective communities -- and Duluth always makes time to celebrate the greenery.
Friday, the city of Duluth will celebrate Arbor Day by planting a tree at Bunten Road Park.
One cherry tree will be planted at 10 a.m. at Bunten Road Park as part of its annual tradition.
Last year, two trees were planted in honor of Jack Wynn and Fred Bishop.
The Arbor Day Foundation has designated Duluth a Tree City USA for 23 years. This national designation requires Duluth to have a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinate, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
Other designated cities in Gwinnett include Lilburn, Norcross, Snellville and Suwanee.
