Detectives find stolen TV, break up burglary ring

WINDER -- Winder police arrested two women and a juvenile Thursday, after a break in a string of burglary cases.

An investigation brought police detectives Rikki Banks and Gregg Teatino of the city force to the Winder home of Zenobia Griffin Thursday, a press release said.

During an interview, the detectives saw a television at her home that was believed to be stolen, so the police left and obtained a search warrant. During the search, conducted by the Winder department as well as Barrow County sheriff's deputies, they were able to recover several flat-panel televisions and other electronics reported stolen during the recent string of burglaries, the release said.

Griffin, 27, was arrested in connection with seven burglaries and several attempted burglaries, the release said. Dacquiri Huff, 20, and a 16-year-old juvenile were also charged in the crimes.

The sheriff's office is investigating whether the trio were also involved in burglaries outside of the city, the release added.

While the investigation is ongoing and more charges could come, the women are currently facing multiple counts of burglary, criminal attempt to commit burglary, felony theft by taking, misdemeanor theft by taking, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, cruelty to children, fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance, and false report of a crime.
