Bank incident proves to be false alarm

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett Police's Hazardous Device Unit was called to a Lawrenceville bank on Thursday just before noon in an incident that proved to be a false alarm.

A mentally ill person at a Fifth Third Bank at 870 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd. "made some type of utterance that there may be explosives in her car," said Cpl. Ed Ritter of Gwinnett Police.

"There was nothing to it," Ritter said. "HDU responded and cleared the car and found nothing."
