Rainbow Village needs your vote

DULUTH -- Rainbow Village was established in 1991 to breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence.

Now the nonprofit needs your help.

After receiving enough votes in January, Rainbow Village is one of the 10 finalists (in two categories) in Technology JumpStart Your Nonprofit's contest presented by Milner, Inc. The organization that scores the most points wins $20,000 technology makeover in the category for those that employ 15 or less people.

"As a faithful supporter of Rainbow Village, your vote can help us win a $20,000 technology makeover that will outfit our new Media Center, empowering Rainbow Village's children to perform better in school and our adult residents to succeed in their career development goals," said Chief Development Officer Sandra Cathy.

Another way for Rainbow Village to receive votes is by donating $5 to the organization at the Milner site. Five dollars equals one vote.

"This is our way of thanking nonprofit organizations in metro Atlanta for the work they do in providing charitable services in our communities," said Vice President of Milner Charlie Gibson on the company's blog. "This contest enables us to give back to the communities in which we do business -- an endeavor for which we are very proud."

Individuals can vote for the nonprofit once a day (per IP address, which means different computers) until March 10. To vote for Rainbow Village, visit www.milner.com/jumpstart and click the "Vote Now" button. The Duluth organization is competing against Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption, Callanwolde Foundation Inc., First Step Staffing Inc. and Second Life Thrift Store Inc.

The winners will be announced during the week of March 25.

Milner is a Norcross-based full service provider of business-to-business solutions that enable organizations of all sizes to improve efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.

"Rainbow Village was established in 1991 to breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence."

And how do they propose to do that?

If you don't know anything about Rainbow Village and it's mission and history, you should take time to do so and not take potshots at one of the top non profit organizations in the county and beyond. And for the record, they serve others in Christ's name proudly and with the utmost integrity. Walk in others shoes before you kick the dirt.
