Gwinnett Gladiators' Pink in the Rink 2013
Crews convert the color of the ice to pink as part of the annual Pink in the Rink, an event to raise awareness for cancer. Watch a time-lapse video of the process.
DULUTH -- A crew of about a dozen men slid across slick ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center with one common goal: convert the milky white ice the Gwinnett Gladiators play on into pink ice.
The Gwinnett Gladiators will take part in the 6th annual Pink in the Rink, to raise cancer awareness at the Arena at Gwinnett Center for games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
About 200 gallons of water mixed with clear coat resin and pink dye was sprayed to temporarily stain the ice.
The colorful ice will not last long as crew will need to prepare for the arrival of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus which will preform Feb. 21 through March 3.
