One Sunday last December, the Gwinnett Daily Post printed the wish list for non-profit organizations. Covenant Counseling & Family Resource Center was on that list hoping for cool air.
Covenant Counseling & Family Resource Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote healing and wholeness in the community through pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, education and consultation. Though we accept many major insurance plans we also offer fee assistance for those who might not be able to afford care.
We currently serve more than 500 individuals and families. Our Center has been located in a beautifully renovated split-level ranch house for over 20 years. The Center has many of the qualities needed to make one feel at home. Yet during the summer it can get hot … really hot. The system in the house is old and the cool air rarely reaches the renovated offices on the top floor.
When the Daily Post had a call for “wish list” items we asked for air conditioning units. Thanks to Reliance Mechanical Inc of Lawrenceville our prayers were answered. Reliance Mechanical provided Covenant Counseling with not one, but four air conditioning window units. That’s a unit for each of the individual offices that needed it the most.
In 2010, after conducting an internal audit, we learned a past employee embezzled roughly $75,000 from the organization. This devastated the organization and made finances extremely difficult. We entered the rebound stage and are finally back in the black yet our budget is lean and the majority of income is put back into providing services. Air conditioning units like these would not have been possible without the “Wish List” plea from Gwinnett Daily Post and the generous reply from Reliance Mechanical.
This summer we will continue to provide quality care for healing and wholeness in a comfortable, cool environment. Covenant Counseling & Family Resource Center is extremely grateful.
