SNELLVILLE — Grayson turned in its typical strong defensive effort and added an offensive jolt from Marquise Lanier dominated Parkview 64-24 in the Region 8-AAAAAA boys play-in game at South Gwinnett.
Lanier scored 11 of his 20 points in the first half and Damien Young added 16 points for the Rams who play Shiloh on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
“We try to focus on defense and rebounding,” Grayson head coach Geoffrey Pierce said. “We figure we can be in any game if we focus on defense.”
Take its two previous meetings with the upcoming Generals. Grayson lost both meetings with Shiloh by a total of five points, giving the Rams motivation and confidence headed into Tuesday's game.
“We feel like we can play with anybody if we focus on ourself,” Pierce said. “To a certain extent, whenever you lose a close game you'd like another opportunity to play again. But whoever we've got next we are just focused on them now. It's survive and move on now.”
