DULUTH -- Need to relieve some stress from the week at your neighborhood honky-tonk? Look no further.
Friday, country duo Montgomery Gentry have planned a stop at Wild Bill's. It isn't Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry's first time at "America's largest dance club and concert hall."
"Yeah, we've done a thing down there -- we had a blast," Montgomery said. "What's so great about (Wild Bill's) is that we cut our teeth into honky-tonks like that, with us being from Kentucky and all. The big arena tours are great, but there's nothing like getting that club feeling, especially since we grew up in that atmosphere."
The group is known for several No. 1 hits, including "If You Ever Stop Loving Me," "Something to Be Proud Of," "Lucky Man," "Back When I Knew It All" and "Roll with Me."
But the guys released their latest song, "I'll Keep the Kids" in the fall of last year. Montgomery and Gentry have both been through divorce and understand it creates pain for children.
"The main thing of it is like 78 percent of people are getting divorces these days," Montgomery said. "No one is winning but the attorneys in the situation."
While on tour, the men are working on other songs to release in the future.
"We've been writing and I'll tell you, we love to write," Montgomery said. "But right now, we're just touring."
Tonight's show promises to have energy and then some, according to Montgomery.
"None of the shows are the same and anything goes at our shows," he said. "We don't like to say we have fans. We like to say we have friends ... and we've got a hell of a lot of friends out there. We like to sing about the good, the bad, the ugly and the parties on the weekends. We've been know to lock the doors ... and party into the night."
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. JJ Lawhorn takes the stage at 9:30 p.m. This is a 18 year and older event.
