Buford's basketball doubleheader tonight vs. visiting North Hall will be a Devin Durden Memorial Scholarship Game, an event to raise scholarship money for the cause.
All money raised from concessions and donations at the games will go toward the scholarship fund named for Durden, a former Buford football and basketball player who also played football at Air Force. The fund will provide scholarships in Durden's name to students at Buford and Dade County, where Durden's father Gene coached before becoming Buford's girls basketball coach.
"We just wanted to do something with basketball to keep his name going," Gene Durden said of his son.
The varsity girls game tips off at 7 p.m. and the varsity boys game will follow.
