PREP ROUNDUP: Dacula boys take down Shiloh 65-54

DACULA -- Dacula had four players reach double digits in points on Tuesday night as the Falcons upended Region 8-AAAAAA-leading Shiloh 65-54.

Brandon Goodson was the top scorer for Dacula (17-7, 9-6) with 19 points, while Jaylen Williams posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds

Kevon Tucker added 15 points for the Falcons, with Cam Lewis adding 10 points and seven rebounds.

Shiloh (18-6, 12-3), which fell into a tie for first in the region with Archer, was led by Nate Mason's 14 points. The Generals and Tigers meet for the regular-season region title Friday at Shiloh.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Norcross 73, Duluth 42

DULUTH -- Norcross received 22 points from Andre Chatfield on Tuesday night as the Blue Devils pulled away for a 73-42 win over Duluth in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Khalen Pinkett added 14 points for Norcross (18-6, 13-2), while Brandon Goodwin added 10 points.

Shamus Goss led Duluth (12-12, 4-11) with 19 points.

Peachtree Ridge 69, Mountain View 48

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge had 12 players score on Tuesday night as the Lions topped Mountain View 69-48 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Jordan Capps led the Lions (16-8, 12-3) in scoring with 13 points, while Amir Warnock added nine points. Kevin Barnes also played well with eight points.

Wes Harter led Mountain View (2-20, 0-14) in scoring with 11 points.

Meadowcreek 62, Habersham Central 48

MOUNT AIRY -- Meadowcreek knocked off Habersham Central 62-48 on Tuesday night for a Region 7-AAAAAA win.

Austin Robinson led the Mustangs (8-16, 6-9) with 16 points, seven steals and five assists, while Adrian Hicks added 14 points, six steals and five assists.

Habersham fell to 4-19 overall and 1-13 in the region.

South 60, Parkview 36

LILBURN -- South Gwinnett received 17 points from Logan Adams and 14 more from Kyle Wright as the Comets streaked to a 60-36 win over Parkview on Tuesday night.

South upped its record to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in Region 8-AAAAAA, while Parkview fell to 3-21 overall and 1-14 in the region.

Berkmar 66, Brookwood 58

LILBURN -- Berkmar's Jonathan Sanks scored 20 points on Tuesday night as the Patriots got past Brookwood 66-58 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Tim Rowe had a solid night for Berkmar (13-11, 9-6) with 12 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, while C.J. Foster added 12 points.

The loss dropped Brookwood to 16-9 overall and 8-8 in the region.

Lanier 70, Chestatee 58SUGAR HILL -- Lanier won its fourth in a row on Tuesday night with a 70-58 victory over Chestatee.

Paul Webb had 16 points and six rebounds in the win, while Jordan Harper added 15 points. Lanier (15-9, 6-1) also received a solid game from Simon Shafack with 10 points and seven boards.

Buford 66, West Hall 52

GAINESVILLE Buford had three players score in double figures on Tuesday night as the Wolves upended West Hall 66-52 in Region 7-AAA.

Isaiah Williams was the top scorer for Buford (18-5, 12-0) with 18 points. Kyle Doyle followed with 17, while A.J. Davis scored 14. Coby Durden also helped by adding nine points.

GAC 86, Lovett 32

ATLANTA -- Collin Swinton of Greater Atlanta Christian led all players with 19 points on Tuesday night as the Spartans roughed up Lovett 86-32 in Region 6-AA.

Isaiah Wilkins added 15 points for GAC (22-3, 8-0), while Justin Lewis chipped in with 14 points.

Providence 61, George Walton 55

MONROE -- Charlie Scott logged 19 points on Tuesday night in leading Providence to a 61-55 win over George Walton Academy in a subregion 8B-A game.

Steven Kleinschmidt added 12 points as the Storm upped its record to 11-11 overall and 9-3 in the subregion.

Providence will play again at home on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. against Towns County to make up Saturday's cancellation.

Athens Academy 58, Hebron 51

ATHENS -- Athens Academy held off Hebron for a 58-51 win over the Lions on Tuesday night in subregion 8B-A.

Cory Johnson scored 14 to lead the Lions (8-15, 5-7).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norcross 56, Duluth 45

DULUTH -- Shayla Cooper of Norcross scored 18 points Tuesday night in helping the Blue Devils hold off Duluth 56-45 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Diamond DeShields flirted with a triple-double for Norcross (20-4, 14-1), finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Sydney Marshall also helped with nine points.

The loss set Duluth back to 16-8 overall and 10-5 in the region.

Mountain View 50, Peachtree Ridge 35

SUWANEE -- Mountain View received 12 points from Bria Virgil on Tuesday night and 10 more from Iceis Walker as the Bears knocked off Peachtree Ridge 50-35 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Kelsey Hutchins and Aneysa Williams added the balanced offense for Mountain View (15-7, 7-7) with nine points each.

Melissa Turvy led the Lions (8-15, 3-12) in scoring with 10 points.Mountain View will return to Habersham Central tonight at 6 p.m. to resume its suspended game from Saturday. The game, which was halted at halftime due to snow, will pick up at the start of the third quarter with Mountain View leading 31-25.

Parkview 61, South 28

LILBURN -- Parkview had nine girls in the scoring column on Tuesday night as the Panthers rolled to a 61-28 win over South Gwinnett.

Parkview, which was led by 13 points each from Marissa Mandeldove and Genesis Perrymond, ran its unbeaten record to 24-0 overall and 15-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

South (13-11, 8-7) was led by seven points from Jashawna Johnson and six points from Colette Onenda.

Berkmar 41, Brookwood 33

LILBURN -- Daijah Cooke of Berkmar led all players with 17 points on Tuesday night in helping the Patriots get past Brookwood 41-33 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Ja'Taja Washington added 11 rebounds and seven points as Berkmar climbed over .500 at 12-11 overall and 8-7 in the region.

Courtney Gardner finished with 13 points to lead Brookwood (15-10, 9-7).

Dacula 51, Shiloh 34

DACULA -- Dacula improved to 8-16 overall and 6-9 in Region 8-AAAAAA on Tuesday night with a 51-34 win over Shiloh

Faustine Aifuwa led the Falcons with 16 points, seven blocks and six rebounds, while Jonnae Johnson had 13 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Other standouts for Dacula were Star Toomey (12 points, eight rebounds), Katy Daniel (seven points, four assists) and Anazjah Mayes (seven points, six rebounds).

Shiloh (1-19, 1-14) was led by 10 points and three rebounds from Bria Ratliff. Kaylen Ward added five points and five rebounds for the Generals, while Kierra Ward finished with five points and three boards.

Chestatee 57, Lanier 50

SUGAR HILL -- Chestatee locked up the top seed for the upcoming Region 8-AAAA tournament with a 57-50 win over Lanier on Tuesday night.

Lanier (9-14, 5-2) led in the middle of the third quarter but Chestatee was able to pull away. Tamar Osborne and Taylor-Rose Gibson-Green each scored 12 points to lead the Longhorns.

Buford 58, West Hall 31

GAINESVILLE -- Buford stayed perfect in Region 7-AAA at 12-0 on Tuesday by beating West Hall 58-31.

Kristina Nelson led the Wolves (18-4 overall) with 13 points, while MacKenzie Darrah added 11 points.

George Walton 56, Providence 41

WALTON -- Providence suffered its second loss in subregion 8B-A on Tuesday night with a 56-41 setback at George Walton Academy.

Aubrey Gold led the Storm (15-7, 11-2) with 14 points, while Jessie Kowalewicz added 12 points.

Providence will host Towns County at 6 p.m. on Thursday to make up a game that was cancelled on Saturday.

BOYS TENNIS

Norcross 5, Parkview 0

LILBURN -- Chris Willis, Nick Lynch and William Teoh all won in singles play on Tuesday in guiding Norcross to a season-opening 5-0 sweep of Parkview.

Norcross (1-0) took both doubles matches with Ethan Chervonski and William Espinoza at No. 1 and Max Volino and Jeff McKendree at no. 2.

Buford 4, Gainesville 1

BUFORD -- Buford opened its season with a 4-1 win over Gainesville on Tuesday night.

Colby West took the No. 1 singles match, while Nicholas Becker won at No. 3 singles.

The Wolves (1-0) also won both doubles matches with Rob Hunter and Alex Turner winning at No. 1 and Jabin Stepp and Josh Thompson winning at No. 2.

GIRLS TENNIS

Norcross 5, Parkview 0

LILBURN -- Norcross began its 2013 season with a solid 5-0 win over Parkview on Tuesday.

Singles winners for the Blue Devils (1-0) were Stacy Lackey, Maria Lackey and Rachel Luttrell, while doubles winners were the No. 1 team of Sarah Ann Gratwick and Emma Wheaton and the No. 2 duo of Hannah Appel and Heather Shine.

Gainesville 3, Buford 2

BUFORD -- Gainesville spoiled Buford's season opener on Tuesday by nipping the Wolves 3-2.

Annalea Stevens provided one point for Buford (0-1) with a win at No. 1 singles, while Jessica Thompson and Rebecca Hendrix added the other point with a No. 2 doubles win.
