LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Lawrenceville City Council performed a number of housekeeping chores Monday night, including passage of a 24-item consent agenda.
Approval included the purchase of a radio and telephonic recording system ($15,899) and speed detection devices ($20,200) for the city's police department; tapping tees ($7,470) and fittings ($10,037) for the gas department; a digital postage machine off the state contract ($4,490); and tree and stump removal ($4,805).
In other business, the council:
... Agreed to rezone property at 134 Industrial Drive from RS-150 (residential) to ON (office neighborhood) from a request made by Chris Davis. This area mainly is heavy commercial and light industrial.
... Granted the appeal request from Jon Stewart of Elite Sports Enterprise Inc., to allow the construction of a second structure at 905 Grayson Highway.
... Accepted the first reading of a rezoning at 310 and 320 Phillip Blvd. from C2 (county) to BG (business general).
... Approved a $31-per-month contract from Professional Probation Services.
... Agreed to spend $169,240 to upgrade its computer server, along with networking hardware and software as part of a strategic IT plan.
... Adopted its new residential recycling contract for $2.15 per month per customer.
