LAWRENCEVILLE -- Start counting down the days to warmer weather because New Lawrenceville's Spring Green Festival is already in the planning stages for its third annual event March 16.
The festival is going to have its usual activities: arts and crafts, a kids zone, a Battle of the Bands for local musicians, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, the man zone and other live music, to name a few.
But this year, there are two new additions to the day.
Runners, there is a Chick-fil-A 5K and Family Fun Run, and all 16 Gwinnett County restaurant locations are participating in the race. The run includes ChronoTrack chip timing, dri-fit shirts and a chance to win Chick-fil-A for a year. The track is also USATF certified and a sanctioned course, plus its a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.

Need another reason to get active? The 2013 Family Promise Bed Races are hosting a bed race -- yes, beds -- around the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. Participants need to transform a bed into a racing vehicle to enter for $100 per team. The deadline to enter the race is Feb. 28.
The enter, mail your check to Family Promise of Gwinnett County, P.O. Box 464971, Lawrenceville, GA 30042.
If racing isn't your thing, but you want to represent your business or organization, vendor and sponsorship applications are currently available. Those interested should look at the options on Spring Green's website.
The festival is rain or shine. For more information, visit www.SpringGreenFestival.com.
