LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of gas station burglaries in northern Gwinnett County.
According to Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County Police, authorities arrested Douglas McDaniel, 43, on Jan. 27, in connection with 15 burglaries which began in August 2012 and continued through January 2013.
"McDaniel matched the description of a suspect who had committed multiple burglaries of gas stations and convenience stores in the northern part of the county," Smith said.
McDaniel was driving a white Chrysler Town and Country minivan, which matched the description of a vehicle used in several of the cases, according to Smith. While he was not charged in the initial encounter, he was arrested the next day for parole violation.
Smith said McDaniel's method of operation and types of items stolen were similar in each case.
One such alleged incident was on Oct. 15, in which a suspect forced entry through the front door of The Country Store at 298 W. Main St. in Buford. About $1,500 worth of cigarettes and several scratch-off lottery tickets were stolen.
McDaniel remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
