Library board of trustees discusses contracts, grants during workshop

LAWRENCEVILLE — During a workshop meeting Monday, the Gwinnett County Public Library Board of Trustees discussed two pending telecommunication contracts.

Jane Walters, division director for business services for the library system, said the contracts for Internet access and Primary Rate Interface connectivity will expire in June. The contracts are federally funded, Walters said, and the process is stringent.

“We’re hoping to bring a recommendation to the board meeting on (January) 13th,” she said.

Walters also apprised the board of two grants the library system has received. The first grant, the LSTA Prime Time Family Reading Time Grant for $6,750, is designed to help underserved families have increased library access. The second, a grant for the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Civil War 150 Project, is $500 that can be used to promote the Civil War exhibit.

The board of trustees will convene for a voting session, during which time these items will be addressed, at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 13.
