PREP ROUNDUP: Jones leads Central to championship game

GAINESVILLE — Shaun Jones’ 18 points helped Central Gwinnett (8-4) defeat Parkview 57-36 on Friday to earn a spot in the championship game of the Big Red Shootout today.

Jones also chipped in with five rebounds and five assists. Karon Jackson added 16 points, while Neal Hodges and John Stafford each had nine points for Central.

Archer 68, Jefferson 67 OT

WALNUT GROVE — Darrion Taylor’s 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining lifted Archer to a 68-67 OT win over Jefferson in the Walnut Grove Christmas Tournament on Friday.

Kwei Lardey led the Tigers (5-7) with 21 points. Jeremiah Buford chipped in 19 for Archer.

Mill Creek 63, North Florida Educational Institute 61

TIFTON — Chase Duffy scored with one second remaining to lift Mill Creek to a 63-61 win over North Florida Educational Institute at the Tift County McDonald’s Classic.

Duffy took a pass from Keeton Glover and nailed the shot to put the Hawks into today’s championship game against Tift County. Glover led the Hawks with 16 points, while Scotty Chadwick added 12. Duffy and Miles Riley each had 10 points.

Buford 70, Academic Magnet of Charleston 43

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Buford improved to 6-3 on the season with a 70-43 win over Academic Magnet of Charleston in the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic on Friday night.

Rakim Lubin had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolves. Taylor Mills also had 18 points and hit six 3-pointers, while D’Marcus Simons added 11 points and 10 assists.

North Oconee 67,

Hebron Christian 62

COMMERCE — Hebron Christian fell to North Oconee 67-62 in the East Jackson Christmas Tournament on Friday. Cory Johnson led the Lions (5-6) with 23 points, while teammate Derek Vandiver added 20.

North Myrtle Beach 71

DAYTONA, Fla. — Dacula defeated North Myrtle Beach 76-71 in the Daytona Sunshine Classic on Friday night. Kevon Tucker led the Falcons (8-3) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Keshawn Gibbs had 21 points and Cam Moye had 18 points and six rebounds for Dacula.

Lumpkin County 40

DAHLONEGA — Wesleyan defeated Lumpkin County 50-40 in the FCA Gold City Classic Friday night. Brian Coffey led the Wolves (3-8) with 15 points. Carlie O’Briant added nine points for Wesleyan.

WALNUT GROVE — Greater Atlanta Christian moved into the semifinals of the Walnut Grove Christmas Tournament with a 57-38 win over Monroe Area on Friday.

Brianna Cummings led the Spartans (10-3) with 29 points. GAC is trying to defend its tournament title from last year.

Parkview 39, S.E. Raleigh 35

DORMAN, S.C. — Parkview overcame a 13-point halftime defecit and defeated Southeast Raleigh 39-35 Friday in the Dorman Classic Tournament.

Genisis Perrymond led the Panthers (11-0) with 15 points. Raven Johnson added nine points for Parkview, who faces Southwest DeKalb today.

Grayson 60, Northview 36

CUMMING — Grayson defeated Northview 60-36 at the Wolverine Winter Classic on Friday. Lika Bah led the Rams (6-4) with 17 points, four assists and three steals. Imani Conner added 12 points and four assists for Grayson.

Mountain View 67,

BC Rain (Ala.) 56

CUMMING — Aneysa Williams poured in 25 points to lift Mountain View to a 67-56 win over BC Rain in the Wolverine Winter Classic on Friday.

Iceis Walker and Arianna Williams each had 10 points for the Bears (9-3), while the latter Williams also pulled down 11 rebounds.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Archer improved to 11-0 with a 58-40 win over Greeneville (Tenn.) at the LandAir Ladies Classic on Friday. Autumn Newby led the Tigers with 17 points. Alesha Mann added nine points, while Madison Newby contributed six steals and C.C. Marseille pulled down 11 rebounds for Archer.

JASPER — Collins Hill defeated Pickens County 44-40 at the Pickens Holiday Classic on Friday. Kyra Dixon led the Eagles (8-4) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Brown had nine points and Brittany Stowers contributed eight rebounds for Collins Hill.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Faustine Aifuwa scored 18 points and blocked six shots to help Dacula to a 54-49 win over Hanahan at the Carolina Invitational on Friday. Jonnaw Johnson added 16 points for the Falcons (8-3).

FORT WALTON BEACH (Fla.) — Meredith Schulte led Mill Creek with 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Hawks defeated Niceville 62-28 in the Fort Walton Beach Choctaw Classic. Madison Phillips added 15 points for Mill Creek(7-3).

DAHLONEGA — Stephanie Amichia had 24 points and 12 rebounds to help North Gwinnett to a 62-15 victory over Wayne County at the Gold City Classic Tournament.
