National Weather Service issues flood watch

The National Weather Service on Friday afternoon issued a flood watch for Saturday and Sunday that included Gwinnett. At least an inch of rain is expected to fall this weekend.

Affected areas already saturated from recent rains include lakes and streams that are high or above normal, such as the Suwanee Creek Greenway area, which was the subject of a flood warning issued last weekend. An additional one to two inches of rain could cause flooding in those areas.

The NWS in Peachtree City issued the flood watch in its afternoon forecast that said one to three inches of rain is expected to fall over the same areas that reported two to five inches of rain in the last week. The rain is primarily expected to fall on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The area in the flood watch stretched from Cordele to Cleveland.
